So the Tea Party is taking back America. Interesting. Taking it back how and taking it back to where should be the questions posed and answered over the next five months. These opening salvos fired in a few primaries should not be viewed as indicative of what will happen in the fall.
In addition, anyone can say that they are anti-Washington. Washington is more than a place where political ideologies clash. The “establishment” that these guys rail against is not comprised of the party in charge and goes way beyond the mentality of the current majority leadership.
In the end, the Washingtonian establishment is based on the written and unwritten rules of how the government’s largesse is redistributed and how we relate to our government. None of these candidates has laid out an agenda that spells out how they will change these rules.
Primarily for this reason, no matter whose rear end occupies a chair in the House or the Senate, the establishment will quickly co-opt them.
