So now the TARP saved the economy?

Seems like Tim Geithner and the Republicans are throwing barbs … again. Let me get this straight. The economy stopped receding in June 2009, much too early to give credit to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, so we go back a few months to a Bush administration policy and sing its praises for allegedly saving the economy? Please! Give me a break. The only thing TARP did was keep investor stock accounts from falling further and probably led to a boost in the stock market starting in March 2009.

If the ARRA did not bring us back from the brink but a Bush policy did, why did we vote for you guys? Why did we spend $800 billion when the first $700 billion in TARP was doing the trick?
