As this article in The Wall Street Journal shows, you can always tell when it’s an election year in the black community. Go to a predominantly black church and look for white faces. Chant a few “we shall overcome” slogans and give the obligatory, “I feel your pain and I stand with you” slogans and your in with black voters. Democrats have pulled this stunt for decades and get away with it because its a low cost and effective for getting votes.
The barber’s statements about not knowing anything about the senate candidates and thinking that only the presidential elections matter is indicative of a willingly uninformed electorate. Turning a blind eye to the issues doesn’t benefit the African American community specifically nor the country as a whole.
