Democrats giving Obama what he needs in 2012

The Democrats are showing their true colors today. According to CNN and, the House Democratic Caucus completed a nonbinding vote to not bring the Obama-GOP negotiated tax cut package to the floor of the House. They felt marginalized by Mr. Obama during the negotiations.

I suspect that Mr. Obama moved himself as best he could to the middle of this debate and finally realized that he was dealing with an unreasonable progressively left hippie wing of the party; a base that has already gotten a substantial Christmas list of goodies from healthcare to stimulus money for skate board rinks. Like spoiled children, they want more.

Let’s not forget that we have an economy that is still in need of a jump start. Increased consumer spending is necessary if we are going to grow our GDP to the extent that business feels more secure about hiring.

Unfortunately for the Democrats, they seem unwittingly content in moving Mr. Obama to the relative safety of the middle while the party follows the ridiculous guidance of its left fringe. When it comes to their pocketbooks, Americans have long memories. If the Democrats want to avoid another beat down in 2012, then they need to refocus on the true role of government: promoting a healthy economy. We won’t get that if we have a Democratic party continuously focused on class warfare.
