I saw a snippet of a campaign rally where former Massachusetts Governor Willard Romney is asked about his economic plan. His response was that he will do the opposite of whatever Mr. Obama has done.
Wow. That really fosters great expectations.
Granted Mr. Obama has acted more like a community coordinator-in-chief; a housing foreclosure program there, some stimulus money over here, etc., but just saying you are going to do the opposite doesn’t say much.
For example, if we followed that logic, we would reverse the policy of bailout nation, which is all well and good. Problem is, we are already doing that, thanks in part to the dreaded Dodd Frank Act.
Reversing stimulus? Too late. The money has already been spent.
Government spending has been on a decline the last few quarters. Reversing that policy would put you out of favor with the rest of the Republican Party. Sorry Mittens. The O has you cornered there as well.
Hopefully you are not telling us that the econ guru is already running out of silver bullets to slay the Big Bad Wolf Mr. Obama has created. If that’s the case, yours will be the fastest first 100 days in American political history.
Oh. Before I forget. Most Americans don’t remember the Carter years. They weren’t born yet, and if that’s how you expect to go after young people, by comparing two very different presidents and economic environments, then good luck to you.
