Mittens and Bastille Day

The flack over Governor Mitt Romney’s failure to release his taxes is continuing full force this week. The issue, along with questions as to when Mr. Romney actually left Bain Capital, has been a major distraction for Team Romney. The issues have steered Mr. Romney away from his messaging on the economy. He’ll get back on track in a couple weeks when the Labor Department releases another dismal unemployment report.

Personally, Mittens, I don’t care whether you paid an effective tax rate of 0.12%. Neither yours nor President Obama’s taxes are any of our business. By delaying, however, you transmitted a “let them eat cake” attitude that Americans don’t appreciate.

How ironic this hoopla is blowing up in the wake of Bastille Day. For your sake, don’t let this be your political guillotine…
