My name is Alton Drew. I write and talk about decolonization; the decolonization of the individual from political and economic systems that don’t have her at the center and the decolonization of people of African descent living in a political economy that has no interest in their empowerment.
I was born and raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands and graduated from the Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in economics and political science (1984); a Master of Public Administration (1993); and a Juris Doctor (1999). I am admitted to practice before the Maryland Court of Appeals and the United States District Court-Maryland.
I have cut my teeth in traditional media as well, having appeared on CNBC and WVON-AM 1690: The Talk of Chicago. I have also published a number of guest columns and articles in the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Business Week, and the NATOA Journal of Municipal Telecommunications Policy.
